Greenwood Town Board Meeting – November 13, 2014


Called to order by Vice-Chr. Reichel at 6:30 pm.

Present:  Vice-Chr. Reichel, Supervisors Baland, Doroff and Worringer; Treasurer Clark, Clerk Trancheff


                MOTION Baland/Doroff to approve the Oct. 14, 2014 minutes.  Approved 4/0


                MOTION Worringer/Doroff to approve the Treasurer’s report for Oct. 2014:  Checking-$656,689.23/

                Long Term Investments-$250,515.57/Savings-$308,797.02=$1,216,001.82.  Approved 4/0


                MOTION Doroff/Worringer to pay Claims #16204-16251-$44,741.84.  Approved 4/0


                MOTION Worringer/Baland to issue payroll and fixed bills Dec. 1, 2014.  Approved 4/0


Persons on the Agenda:


John Klaers gave a presentation with his proposal to assist with the Comprehensive Plan for Greenwood.  He suggested a committee be formed and gave a completion timeline of less than a year.  It was noted that the township received a grant from IRRRB to cover half of the cost of the project to be $13,325.


MOTION Baland/Worringer to approve the proposal from John Klaer for a Comprehensive Plan for Greenwood for a total of $13,325.  Approved 3/1 with Doroff voting no.


MOTION Baland/Worringer to accept the Grant from IRRRB to cover 50% of the cost of the Comprehensive Plan for Greenwood Township.  Approved 4/0


Attorney Review Committee:


Chr. Reichel reported that she along with Sup. Baland, Planning Director Julia Maki and Clerk Trancheff interviewed 3 attorneys:  David Pritchett (Rudy, Gassert, Yetka, Pritchett & Helwig-Cloquet), Michael Couri (Couri & Ruppe-St. Michael) and Tim Strom (Hanft, Fride – Duluth)  She added that today the township received a letter of interest from Sellman Law Office.


                MOTION Baland/Doroff to send a letter to Tim Strom offering him the attorney position.  Approved 4/0

                Letters will be sent to all once the township hears from Tim Strom.


Fire Dept:  Chief Fazio reported on the runs for October, Grant applications for SCBA’s and prep for PPE grant, Firefighter I/II is going well, Boat #2 will be pulled out on Monday.


Safety/Training: Ed Borchardt reported that the dept. has completed individual training on all apparatus.  The Plan is to bring in Bloodborne Pathogen/Right to Know/Hazmat in January and Propane training in Feb.


Planning Director Julia Maki reported on the permit activity, Planning Commission meeting and going forward with the Comprehensive Plan.


Maintenance Pat Trancheff reported on Oct. activity and winter preparation.


Clerk Trancheff reported that the turn out for the General Election was 75%-all went well.


Sup. Baland explained that the driveway easement was completed with Bob Reed and since Jerry Holmes was at the hall preparing the tennis court site, he had him put in the culvert on the Birch Point Road easement site.
