Greenwood Town Board Meeting – June 10, 2014

 

Chr. Aro called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm.

Present: Chr. Aro, Vice-Chr. Reichel, Supervisors Baland, Doroff and Worringer; Treasurer Clark, Clerk Trancheff, Attorney Neff

 

MOTION Baland/Reichel to approve the May 13, 2014 minutes. Approved 5/0

 

MOTION Worringer/Baland to approve the Treasurer’s Report for May: Checking-$465,056.21/Long Term Investments-$250,515.57/

Savings-$294,850.60=$1,010,422.38. Approved 5/0

 

MOTION Reichel/Baland to pay Claims #15936-15984 totaling $20,800.88 including payroll. Approved 5/0

 

MOTION Worringer/Doroff to issue payroll and fixed bills July 1. Approved 5/0

 

Correspondence: SLCATO minutes, Thankyou from Northwoods Care Partners, Letter from Donovan Culliton-culvert on Old 77, US Dept. of Interior-placement of properties into Reservation status

 

Sup. Doroff indicated he would talk to the county about the area on Old Hwy. 77

 

Old Business: Hall property project was reported on by Sup. Baland. He met with Rick Sathre and Julia Maki to outline some basic plans and options for a pavilion, tennis court, etc. Sup. Reichel commented that she was under the impression that the tennis court was approved contingent upon a 50/50% matching funds. Chr. Aro commented that the original motion was for 2 courts at an annual meeting and 2 other board meetings.

 

New Business: Tower 4th of July request for donation – Unorganized 63-15 Fire Protection Contract with St. Louis County/Greenwood – Tape recordings of meetings

 

MOTION Reichel/Baland to donate $100 to the Tower 4th of July parade. Approved 5/0

 

MOTION Reichel/Doroff to approve $7500 for Fire Protection for Unorganized 63-15 in 2015. Approved 5/0

 

Attorney Neff advised that in his experience, keeping tapes of every meeting sounds simple but is difficult to manage. He recommended using the tapes for transcription to the next meeting, then re-taping over with the exception of closed meetings and public hearings. He suggested a record retention schedule to assist with the keeping of tapes. Board members heard from audience members asking they be kept.

 

MOTION Aro/Baland to continue recording meetings and keep the tapes for 3 years. Approved 5/0

 

Reports:

 

Fire Chief Fazio gave the May report for calls: 1 meeting, 8 drills/training, 1 fire, 1 CO2 alarm, 8 EMS calls. He reported that he was arranging for Firefighter I/II to be held at Greenwood starting in the fall.

Safety: Ed Borchardt outlined that his new policy will be to conduct a safety meeting at every drill focusing on the drill/training plan events

Planning Director: Ms. Maki was not able to be present.

 

Supervisors:

Sup. Baland reported that he would get 2 quotes for sealing the trail for the next meeting.

Vice-Chr. Reichel reported that the rumble strip equipment will be in the area to repair the strips.

Sup. Doroff reported that work will be done on Old 77, Birch Pt, Moc. Pt. and Arrowhead Pt. Roads-repaving

Chr. Aro commented that the township should see if they can get the potholes fixed on Birch Pt extension while KGM is in the area.

 

MOTION Worringer to increase the Firefighter pensions from $1500/year to $1600/year. Motion failed for lack of support.

 

MOTION Worringer/Baland to approve moving the Fire Boat #1 to Grubens Marina and for all future locations of the boats to be determined by the Fire Chief. Approved 5/0

 

MOTION Baland/Worringer to adjourn at 9:20 pm.
