Greenwood Town Board Meeting – January 12, 2016
Vice-Chr. Baland called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Present: Vice-Chr. Baland; Supervisors Bassing, Milbridge, Worringer; Treasurer Clark, Clerk Trancheff
Absent: Chr. Reichel
MOTION Bassing/Worringer to approve the Dec. 9, 2015 minutes as amended. Approved 4/0
MOTION Milbridge/Bassing to approve the Treasurer’s report for Dec. 2015: Checking-$691,808.31/Long Term Investments-$251,046.66/
Savings-$317,793.03=$1,260,648.00. Approved 4/0
MOTION Worringer/Milbridge to approve Claims #26955-27053 in the amount of $61,694.79. Approved 3/1 with Bassing voting no.
It was determined that Worringer and Milbridge need to abstain on their payments.
MOTION Milbridge/Baland to approve Claims#26955-27053 in the amount of $61,694.79. Approved 2/1 with Bassing voting no and Worringer abstaining on his paid on call and EMR pension and Mary Worringer’s reimbursement, paid on call and EMR pension.
MOTION Worringer/Baland to approve Claims #26955-27053 in the amount of $61,694.79. Approved 2/1 with Bassing voting no and Milbridge abstaining on his paid on call and EMR pension and Laurie Milbridge’s paid on call.
Public: Marilyn Mueller spoke to the changes in Greenwood since she moved here and how proud she used to be to say she lived in Greenwood Township compared to today when she is embarrassed and ashamed to say she lives in Greenwood, asking for people to treat others as they would want to be treated-with courtesy and respect.
Jeff Maus spoke to Marilyn’s comments and asked that the meeting guidelines be followed.
Correspondence: Requests from Cook Library and St. Louis County Fair, letter from David Parucci, Thank you from family of Carol Fazio, Holiday Greeting from Gruben’s Marina, COMO Oil change of ownership.
MOTION Bassing/Milbridge to donate $100 to the Cook Library. Approved 4/0
MOTION Worringer/Bassing to donate $100 to the St. Louis County Fair. Approved 4/0
Chief Fazio brought the idea of purchasing the used Tower Ambulance to be used as a rehab vehicle. There was discussion regarding the engine failure and if the problem has been fixed.
MOTION Worringer/Baland to approve purchasing the Tower Ambulance vehicle.
Discussion included the risks of purchasing a vehicle that had problems.
MOTION FAILED: 1/3 with Baland/Bassing/Milbridge voting no.
MOTION Bassing to appoint Barb Lofquist as an election judge. MOTION FAILED for lack of support.
MOTION Worringer/Bassing to approve the list of Absentee Ballot Board and Election Judges. Approved 4/0
MOTION Bassing/Baland to not have the attorney at the annual meeting. Approved 4/0
MOTION Bassing/Worringer to authorize the Fire Dept. to get a set of turn out gear. Approved 4/0
It was noted that Chr. Reichel and Vice-Chr. Baland will work on employee contracts, bring them to a closed special meeting of the board.
Fire Dept: Chief Dave Fazio gave the run report for Dec (1 mtg/1 drill/11/EMS/1 truck fire/1 propane smell-100% responded to).
Safety/Training: Ed Borchardt reported that the dept. had the Bloodborne/Right to Know/Hazmat refresher Jan. 5 with other inside training coming up.
Planning Director: Julia Maki reported that permit activity is a bit slower, some variances may be heard in the near future, the Planning Commission is continuing work on Ordinance changes and the Steering Committee will meet at 1 pm on Jan. 20.
Maintenance: Pat Trancheff reported on the normal routine maintenance of equipment, township property, grounds.
Clerk Trancheff reported of a complaint regarding Carmen DeLuca’s campaign sign located on the Township Smokey Bear Signs.
It was noted that the Treasurer, Clerk and Chr. Reichel will work on the 2017 budget once the 2015 books are closed.
